Short Story
A word from Mr Tung
Centainnel Agriculture has been practising the “Biodynamic Agriculture” method for the past 8 years. We strongly believe that “Only the healthy soil can produce a healthy harvest”. Therefore, we practice green manuring & rotational crop farming to cultivate our soil. Our farm produce might not look the best, but we can assure you that they are the sincerest from us.

Centainnel Agriculture(鸟家)
I’m Tung Siew Hoe(阿鸟), currently running a 3 Acres organic farm in Perak, located in the outskirts of Siputih, Ipoh, offering a variety of tasty and organic seasonal vegetables. Here in Centainnel Agriculture, we have passionately practiced Biodynamic Farming and embraced the Shimamoto Microbial method for nearly eight years, guided by the core principle of biodynamic agriculture: “Only healthy soil can nourish healthy crops.”
How do we farm
To rejuvenate our soil, we dedicate over half of our farmland to growing green manure crops. By applying biodynamic preparation BD500, the organic matter from these crops is continually transformed into humus, enriching our soil and boosting its fertility. This healthy soil not only fortifies our crops against diseases and pests but also enhances the flavour and nutritional content of our produce. This dedication is reflected in the exceptional quality and increased yields of our fragrant okra, plump bananas, delicious, sweet corn, and tender sweet potatoes.
Our commitment to sustainable farming is driven by a desire to provide wholesome, high-quality produce to our community. We believe that supporting organic farming initiatives like ours contributes to a healthier populace, “one more organic farm means one less hospital.”
What we need
A community learning farmhouse!
Currently, our productivity and income have been significantly reduced by 50% due to the unforeseen extreme weather such as heavy rainfall. Excessive water in the soil depletes the essential nutrients needed for crops to thrive and promotes the growth of fungus and mold, leading to crop diseases. This has severely impacted the quality and yield of our produce. Besides, we lack the facility to host farm tour properly, we only have a farm shed to host small scale farm tour (less than 20), and it’s not a comfortable place for our guests to stay for too long due to disturbance from bugs and weather, resulting less recurring customers coming back for our tours.
We began the construction of the farmhouse bit by bit in Dec 2023, and even now constructions are only underway 50%, and we are projecting a total spend of RM130,000 before our farmhouse can open. We successfully applied for a small grant from Biji Biji initiaties & Yayasan Hasanah Environmental accelerator program and received about RM18,000, but we will still be spending RM112,000 of our own money, savings from our farm operations and farm tour. With the extreme unpredicted weather and inconsistent offline tours, we are seeing a shortfall of RM72,000. Which will be the minimum amount we hope to raise here on Sebijihub for the farmhouse construction and renovation. If we don’t meet the funding target we will still proceed with the project. However, that will mean that we will have to dip even further into our savings and risk running out of operating expenses a mere few months after operating the farmhouse. If we exceed the funding target, we will be able to invest in processing equipment and have the latitude to host more events for the community. Either way we’ll be keeping you updated on Sebijihub and our Facebook.
What will the farmhouse be used for?
A community centre for us to host farm tour, luncheon to larger group, allowing us to diversify our income, share more about sustainable organic farming and its benefits to our health and environment with our visitors, and allowing us to held workshops to inspire other conventional farmer to adopt a more sustainable farming. Besides, this farmhouse will also serve as a processing plant for us to dry and process our 2nd grade vegetables into organic snacks and noodles!
