Meet Gideon — The Farmer Behind Malaysia’s Regenerative Red Corn 🌽
“We don’t have to destroy the earth just to feed ourselves.”
That belief guides everything Gideon does on his farm in Serdang, Selangor.
Gideon, also known as Mr Jagung Merah, is a 33-year-old Malaysian farmer growing heirloom red corn using regenerative agriculture practices. What makes his farm special isn’t just the colour of his corn — it’s how the land is treated, season after season.
When Gideon first started farming in 2018, he relied on conventional methods and chemical inputs, like many farmers do. Over time, he saw the long-term impact on soil
health and decided to change course.
Today, his farm follows regenerative principles:
No chemical fertilisers or pesticides
Natural inputs like chicken manure, compost, coffee grounds, and cover crops
Colourful heirloom corn varieties to restore soil vitality
Companion planting — beans and spinach are planted first to enrich the soil, followed by corn and cucumbers that grow together as “corn-panions”
Rather than competing, these crops support one another. The result is healthier soil, stronger plants, and a farming system that improves with every harvest.

How Sebijihub Supports Farmers Like Gideon
While regenerative practices are better for the land and our food system, they still require upfront resources — seeds, compost, labour, and time before harvest.
Through Sebijihub’s Rent-a-Farm model, supporters can partner directly with farmers like Gideon by renting a plot on his farm. This provides farmers with upfront stability and allows them to focus on growing food the right way.
When you rent a farm plot, you’re:
Supporting sustainable, chemical-free farming
Helping farmers maintain steady cashflow
Staying connected to where your food comes from
This is how we rebuild trust in our food system — by supporting farmers who farm with care, intention, and respect for the land.
🌱 Grow with Gideon. Grow with Sebijihub.
